10 Tips for Being Healthy After Fifty

To be healthy after fifty, you don’t have to do anything different than you did before, as long as you keep up with the changes that your body goes through as you get older. There are some things that you might need to work harder at than when you were younger, but luckily there are also some great ways to counterbalance those things and make sure that getting older doesn’t interfere with your quality of life. 1) Get a physical every year
It’s important to get a physical every year so you can catch any health issues early on. For example, if you go to the doctor and they find that your heart rate is abnormally high, they may be able to recommend a change in diet or lifestyle which will reduce your risk of developing heart disease.

2) Get your cholesterol and blood pressure checked regularly
Cholesterol and blood pressure should be checked at least once a year. If you have high cholesterol or hypertension, work with your doctor to find the best medication and nutrition plan for you. Don’t smoke: Smoking is bad for your lungs and can increase your risk of heart disease.
